We are halfway through the year, making this the perfect time for a financial reset. We help business owners who thought their bookkeeping was in good shape until they looked a little closer. Missing transactions, unreconciled accounts, and months of bookkeeping can quietly pile up. A mid-year review can help you determine whether your books are on track or whether it is time for a bookkeeping clean up. Use this checklist to see if your bookkeeping needs attention.

Are your books up to date?
If you have not recorded all of your income and expenses, or you are behind by several weeks or months, it may be time for a bookkeeping clean up.

Do your bank account balances match your bookkeeping records?
If your bank accounts have not been reconciled recently or the balances do not match, there may be missing or incorrect transactions that need to be fixed.

Are there transactions you still need to categorize?
Uncategorized transactions make your financial reports less accurate and can create extra work at tax time.

Can you easily run a Profit and Loss Report?
If your reports do not make sense, contain unusual balances, or you are not confident they are accurate, your bookkeeping may need to be reviewed.

Are you missing receipts or supporting documents?
Take time to gather any missing receipts or invoices before they become harder to find later in the year.

Do you know where your business stands financially today?
If you are relying on your bank balance instead of accurate financial reports to make business decisions, your bookkeeping may need some attention.

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, or you simply are not sure, a bookkeeping clean up can help get your records back on track before year end. The sooner you catch up, the easier it is to make informed decisions, prepare for tax season, and move forward with confidence. If you need help cleaning up your books or keeping them up to date each month, we are here to help. Contact us today to learn more about our services.
